SPRING RAIN FARM
Parson Russell Terriers

Myrna Martin Studio

Spring Rain Farm is located in the beautiful, rural, countryside of southwestern Indiana. We started out years ago as a small horse breeding farm, specializing in Shagya and Hungarian crosses for sport and distance riding.

My first Parson Russell Terrier, Windy Hill Willow (Chalky Jones X Pengelli Nell, bred by Nancy Dougherty) arrived here to become my best friend in 1992. Willow was not only my canine soul mate, she was also the number one puppy socializer and rodent exterminator around here. It didn’t take long to get hooked on her positive attitude, intelligence, loyalty, and sense of humor.

Within these pages, I hope to give an overview of my terriers and what they mean to me. I have over 5 generations of my own breeding here and I hope to be able to continue for many more years. I bred my horses with a vision of the ideal riding and companion horse as one with both sound mind and body. I breed my terriers with the same dedication and firm ideal in mind. The ideal terrier must equally possess a great temperament, soundness, health, correct structure, movement and breed type.

Included on this site are several pages about my artwork. I earned my BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Evansville. The focus of my work at that time was the subtle colors and textures in nature, often incorporating unusual viewpoints, especially landscape which was often outdoors on site. My BFA show was a series of abstract landscapes that were heavily influenced by the field painters. I have always loved horses and dogs so it was natural that they have become the focus of my serious artwork and my love of vivid natural colors and texture is evident.
